Artist Joan Voyles
We are very pleased that Anna Maria artist, Joan Voyles, has allowed us to use some of her work to dress up these pages. The technique she employed is watercolor over energetic ink drawings. We think her colorful portrayals of local scenes add a cheerful "island touch" - and we thank her sincerely.
Joan Watkins Abrahamson Voyles grew up in Griffith, Indiana, earned her BS in Art Education from Butler University and her MS from Northern Illinois University. She then taught art in Indianapolis and in Palatine, Illinois. In a second career she had her own business as an executive recruiter. Now, as a professional artist, she is continuing to expand her understanding of the arts and artistic processes by completing requirements for certification in expressive arts at the University of South Florida. Currently, she is serving a practicum in the Arts in Medicine program at Tampa's Moffitt Cancer Center. She is married to doctor, artist and author, Carl Voyles.
