Re: Phase One Drainage Project and Gulf Drive Water Line
The drainage project for Phase One will start on August 4th. Materials are being delivered and stored at locations on the right of ways, City Hall rear parking area and Public Works yard.
Gulf Drive will be one of the first areas to start the drainage work, so all rough construction can be done at the same time. During this time you will encounter delays during working hours, and when both water line and drainage work is installed the road resurfacing work will start.
The period of time for the above work will be from August to September, and I will keep everyone posted as this work moves forward.
Manatee County and the water line contractor will be working on Gulf Drive connecting the twelve inch (12”) new line and installing new fire hydrants on the east side of Gulf Drive.
The metal plates that cover each hole in the north bound line will be in place for a few more weeks until the back filling of the holes are completed.
When the plates are removed a base course fill will be in place until the road is paved at all locations.
The final connection of the water line to the existing line will take place in about three to four weeks. Before the connection work takes place a notice will go out about a week before the connections.
After the water connections are completed mandatory boil water will need to be done until the testing of the water is finalized.
I will update everyone as both of these project move forward.
If anyone has a problem or any questions, please contact Public Works and we will get an answer to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your cooperation with these items.
